Mrs. Christine Poke Bonds was born on November 22, 1938 in Henry County, Newville, Alabama to the late Darby and Inez Poke. She was the one of ten children. She graduated from Rosenwald High School in Newville, Alabama.

At an early age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior where she united with Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Newville, Alabama under the pastoral guidance of Reverend L. L. Brown. She also joined with Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board. Years later she married Carl Bonds and returned to her home church, Mount Sinai.

Christine was employed at Ansell for several years and later on she also was employed with Sunnyland until she retied.

On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, she departed this life. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Anthony Ward; and two brothers: Willie Earl Poke and Joe Bennett Poke (Versie).

She leaves to forever cherish her memories her son, Cedric C. Ward; her grandchildren who she loved dearly: Jennifer Sherman (Mambu) of Chicago, Illinois, Nikki Ward of Orlando, Florida, Cedrica Ward of Frederick, Maryland, Devin Ward of Frederick, Maryland and Toshiba Marshall of Troy, Alabama; two great grandchildren: Skyy Cosley of Frederick Maryland and Micah Sherman of Chicago, Illinois; her beloved siblings: Sarah Whitehurst of Dothan, Alabama, Obie L. Poke (Margaret) of El Paso, Texas, Iola Whigham (Roy Jr.) of Dothan, Alabama, Viola Hardaway (Robert), Catherine Rivers (Amos), Virginia Culver (Charles) and James Willis Poke (*Cassandra) all off Dothan, Alabama; a special brother-in-law: Leon Culver; one faithful goddaughter, Tammy Marshall; her special friends: Linda, Katie, Dean, Patricia “Patsy” and Jeanette along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
