Alberta Johnson Simons (Bert) was born December 24, 1931 in Perote. Alabama.

The second of six girls born to Reverend Sterling Johnson and Arcola Barr Johnson.

She is a testament to her parents belief that hard work and an education were the keys to a successful life. Her lifelong love of reading and learning resulted in her attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology all the while working and raising a family.

At the time of her retirement from the Department of Human Resources she was a supervisor in the field of social work.

She also learned to be caring and eager to be of service in Perote and went  on to be a beloved friend, reliable coworker, and determined community organizer.

Left with aching hearts but also gratitude for being in her life is her husband Walter Simons, Jr.; sisters: Jeannie M. Knight (deceased), Myrtle J. Walker, Ramona J. Cox, Arcola J. Perry and Bettye J. Price; daughters:  Doniece Marie Dudley, Ramona Cox (Hobson); sons: Silas Crawford, Jr. (Karen), Alfonso Allums (deceased), Michael Crawford (deceased); grandson: Charles Dudley; granddaughters: Chaurice Greer (Michael) and  Arcola Mallard; great-grandchildren: Chadwic Foster, Javier Dudley, Arrian Mallard, Zhamia Mallard; her newest love great-great grandson Ayden Foster and  her many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her so dearly. Our lives will forever be blessed by her love and guidance.
