Willie Dean (McHellon) Johnson, affectionately known as “Dean” to family and friends, 79, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Dean was born on February 25, 1946, in Henry County, Alabama, to the late Freddie McHellon and Elease (Mathis) McHellon. She was educated in the Henry County School System and went on to proudly earn her Associate’s Degree, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to learning and the value she placed on education. She later relocated to Newark, New Jersey, where she built a life grounded in faith, family, and perseverance.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Johnny Judson Jr., with whom she shared 40 blessed years of marriage. From this union, Dean was blessed with two sons, Daryl Johnson and John Judson.
Dean worked faithfully in multiple capacities, including as a seamstress, housekeeper, and caregiver, yet her greatest joy came from being a homemaker, creating a home filled with warmth, tradition, and love. She was a devoted member of Mount Tabor Church in Merritt Island, Florida, and found daily joy in her spiritual walks, prayers, and reflection. She also valued health and wellness, remaining active throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Johnny Judson Jr., sister Irene (McHellon) Rackston, and her brother James “Jamie” McHellon.
Dean is survived by her sons, Daryl Johnson (Susan) and John Judson; sisters, Wyleen (McHellon) Woods, Dealer (McHellon) Underwood, and Janice McHellon; brother, Tommie McHellon; and her four grandchildren, Noria, Daryl Jr., J’La, and De’ Andre. She will also be fondly remembered by extended family, her church family, and countless friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and grace.
Willie Dean Johnson lived a life of devotion, dignity, and strength. Her unwavering love, faith, and enduring legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:23
