Willie Ross Holmes, Sr. was born to the late Jennie Lou Holmes on November 19, 1947, in Eufaula, Alabama.
Willie grew up in Eufaula and was a graduate of TV McCoo High School in 1966. Not long after graduating high school Willie enlisted into the United States Army serving as a Medic, as well as serving time in the Vietnam War twice.
Willie was a proud member of Parks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Dothan, Alabama, where he was a resident. He served various roles within the church ranging from being a faithful member of the Sons of Allen, singing in the choir, and serving as the Sunday School secretary.
Willie transitioned unexpectedly from life on May 20, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Willie leaves to mourn his daughters, Jennifer Johnson (Willie), Mary McCoy (Nick), Cassandra Thomas (Chris) and his sons, Willie Ross Holmes, Jr., and Bruce Holmes; siblings, Mary Person (Charles), Charles Holmes, and the late Ernest Holmes; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
