Willie C. Cooks, affectionately known as “W.C. Billy," passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 1, 2023 in Pittsburgh, PA. Born in Union Springs, Alabama on December 6, 1938, his life spanned over eight decades of love, gentleness, and friendly encounters that touched countless hearts.
Billy was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him. His gentle spirit was infectious, and his friendly demeanor made him a joy to be around. He had a knack for making everyone feel special and loved, and his presence will be deeply missed by many.
Billy was a proud son of Union Springs, Alabama, where he was born and raised. Despite moving to Pittsburgh in his later years, he always held a special place in his heart for his birthplace. He often regaled his loved ones with stories of his childhood adventures, painting vivid images of a simpler time that left listeners with a warm sense of nostalgia.
Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his father, mother, two sisters, and three brothers. Their memories were always kept close to his heart, and he often spoke of looking forward to the day when they would all be reunited. Despite the losses he experienced, Billy remained a pillar of strength, his spirit unbroken and his heart always full of love.
He leaves behind three sisters: Linda and her husband Ron Sr., Patricia and her husband Ali, and Sherry and her husband Everett. He also leaves behind his brother Michael and his wife Jackie. Billy was a loving brother and a cherished uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. His extended family and friends will remember him as a gentle soul who always had a kind word to share and a smile to give.
Billy's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. As the author Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Billy embodied this sentiment in every interaction, touching hearts and spreading love wherever he went.
As we remember Billy, we celebrate a life well-lived. His gentle spirit, loving nature, and friendly demeanor will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. We honor his memory by carrying forward the love and kindness he so generously shared with us.
In his passing, we are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. As we mourn the loss of our dear Billy, we also celebrate the love, laughter, and warmth he brought into our lives. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us as we navigate through life without him.
