Life and Times

Willie David Chapman was born on November 7, 1965, in Quincy, Florida, to John Chapman, Jr. and the late Jewel Lee Chapman.

Raised in a Christian home, Willie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, evident in his commitment to Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Alabama. He demonstrated his unwavering faith by living a life reflective of the teachings of Christ, often reminding others of the famous words of Mahatma Gandhi, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

Education was of great importance to Willie. He graduated from Cottonwood High School, where he excelled both academically and socially. His classmates remember him as a friendly and thoughtful individual who always lent a helping hand.

Upon graduation, Willie enlisted in the Army, a decision that showcased his selfless nature. He served his country with honor and dedication, a testament to his inherent sense of duty and patriotism. His time in the Army was a period of immense personal growth. Despite the trials and tribulations he faced, Willie remained steadfast, never allowing the judgment of others to deter him from his path.

Willie's strength of character was admirable. He faced adversity with grace, always keeping faith in the most high. His unwavering belief in God's plan, even during the toughest times, was a source of comfort and inspiration to those around him.

Willie David Chapman a faith-filled, loving, and selfless man departed this earthly life on July 28, 2023. He was a beacon of strength and inspiration for all who knew him.

Willie was preceded in death by his mother, Jewel Lee Chapman, and his beloved sister, Stephanie Chapman.

His memory will be cherished by Melinda Pearson; his two loving two daughters: Alexis Chapman and Mercedes Chapman; his son: Devontrius Chapman; his father: John Chapman, Jr.; his sister: Brenda Stephen and a host of relatives and friends. Willie's legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of those he left behind.

In his passing, we remember a man who loved deeply, lived passionately, and served selflessly. Willie David Chapman's life was a testament to the power of faith, the strength of perseverance, and the beauty of a life lived in service to others. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
