Wanda Joyce Brantley was born November 25, 1955, in Newville, Alabama to the late Mr. Willie Earl Brantley and Mrs. Sylvia Hollis Brantley. She was the fifth of nine children born to this union. At an early age, she joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church where she sung in the choir. Her faith in the Lord was very important to her.
Wanda departed this life on Saturday, November 16, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers: Kenneth Brantley, Samuel Brantley, James “Bert” Brantley, Timothy Brantley, and Joe Brantley. Wanda is survived by one brother: Mr. David Brantley (Mary), Dothan, AL.; two sisters: Mrs. Dorothy Murry, Dothan, AL. and Mrs. Annie Davis (Lewis), Lynchburg, VA.; two sister-in-laws: Bridgett Brantley, and Elma Brantley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to her niece and nephew, Diana and Deon Murry who assisted with her health care after she relocated back to Alabama.
After graduating from Alabama State University, she began her long career in helping and service to others. For twenty-three years she was employed with the Center for Child Enrichment (CFCE) in Miami, Florida. She began her career as a Residential House Manager and later worked as a Case Manager. Her propensity toward hard work and leadership skills propelled her into supervision, becoming their first Administrator for Foster Parent Recruitment, licensing, and supervision. As a Program Operations Manager, she played a major role in the development of their Federally Qualified Health Center. Aside from her supervisor, no other individual staff member contributed more towards the development of the FQHC, from its inception or was responsible for its maintenance.
She loved and treasured her family. She enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally with her family and friends accompanying her. She was a loving, generous, and unwavering mentor who treasured her family and friends.
