Vincie Olliver (Lane) Cushion

Ms. Vincie Olliver Lane Cushion, the last of five born to the late Will and Versie Lane on June 4, 1940, entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2025.

She attended and graduated from Headland Colored High School in 1960. She retired from the Henry County, Alabama Board of Education in 2004, after 20 plus years of service. She was married to the late Carlton Cushion, Sr.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Versie Glover Lane in 1973, her father Will Lee Lane in 1994; her brother, Willie Bunyon Lane in 1958; her oldest sister, Mary Lizzie Lane Spann in 2010; her youngest sister, Jacanta (Ceda) Lane in 2017; her youngest brother, Charles Quinton Lane in 2020; her oldest daughter, Shannon Renee Cushion in 2013; her great grandson, Maverick Jamun Cushion in 2023; her great nieces: Jeneshia Lane and Tiffany Lane in 1993; and her stepdaughter, Sara Whitfield in 2017.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories are her only son, Boris (Chaka) Cushion of Dothan, Alabama; her baby girl, LaToya Cushion (Bobby Rogers) of Headland, Alabama;  her first grandchild, LaBoris Cushion (BreAnna) of  Headland, Alabama; her only granddaughter, LaNivea Cushion of Montgomery, Alabama; her younger grandsons: Brenden Rogers and Brayden Rogers off Headland, Alabama; her only great granddaughter, Naomi Noelle Cushion of Headland, Alabama; her steps: Carlton Cushion, Jr., of Charleston, South Carolina and Dr. Minor Lee Cushion of Gainesville, Florida; step-grandson: Matias Williams of Dothan, Alabama; like a daughter, Faye Reynolds of Headland, Alabama; like a Grandson: Octavius Reynolds of Headland, Alabama; her sister: Ruby (Nathaniel) Reeves of Headland, Alabama; her sister-in-law: Shirley Lane of Dothan, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She also leaves behind to cherish her memories are her special friends and cousins, Martha Fleming, Mary Ann Thornton, Linda White, Catherine Bonds, Fannie Galloway, Evie Lou McDaniel, Evelyn Speed, Ernestine Lane, Catherine McKay, Wylene Thompson, Mae Franklin, Winel Allen and Martha Tullis and a host of several other cousins and friends.
