Mrs. Valrie Ilene Perry-White, age 59 of Douglasville, GA passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020 4-6 PM at the Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home, In, 8312 Dallas Highway, Douglasville, Georgia, 30135;

Visitation: Wednesday, October 14, 2020 4-6 PM at the Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary, 814 Headland Ave, Dothan, Alabama.

Finally tribute/Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 11:00 AM at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 2106 Starling Road, Dothan, Alabama 36303.

 

Valrie was born on December 3, 1960 at Meharry Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee to Mary E. Gillespie and the late Frank Hornsby Jr. She was later adopted by George Perry.

She was a graduate of Dothan High School in 1978.  As a child she accepted Christ and attended Stringer Street AME Church where she was active. She furthered her education and retained her degree in social work and joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority from Troy State University. She went on to earn a Master of Divinity degree from Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She recently retired in 2017 after 20 years of faithful service as a chaplain supervisor from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Atlanta.

 

She enjoyed taking pictures, and loved going to the Jazz Festival.

 

She was preceded in death by her fathers: Frank Hornsby, Jr., her adopted father: George Perry.

 

Valrie Perry-White, passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2020 at the aged of 59, in Douglasville Georgia.

 

Valrie will be remembered by her adoring spouse: Jimmy White Sr.; loving mother: Mary Gillespie; beloved step-sons: Jermal and Jimmy R. White Jr., dear siblings: George (Kelli) Perry, Frank Hornsby, Michael Hornsby, Cynthia Hornsby, and Ava Fulmer; two aunt: Minnie Smith and Willie Maude McNeal; two devoted friends: Shelia Dukes and Alice Cloud; and a host of other relatives and friends.
