Truman Edward Williams, Sr., a proud U.S. Army Veteran and lifelong resident of Dothan, Alabama was born on March 21, 1952, in Dothan, Alabama, to the late George Williams, Sr. and Elizabeth Gilbert Williams. He lived a life marked by faith, strength, dignity, and devotion to his family and community.
Mr. Williams was a man who understood the importance of family, duty, and perseverance. His service in the United States Army reflected his commitment to something greater than himself, and that same spirit of discipline and dedication was evident in the way he lived his life. He was respected for his quiet strength, his steady presence, and his ability to encourage those around him through both words and example.
Those who knew him will remember a man who valued hard work, cherished his loved ones, and carried himself with humility and pride. He was a source of wisdom and support to his family, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him. Though he has departed this earthly life, the love he gave and the lessons he shared will remain a lasting part of the lives he touched.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, George Williams, Sr. and Elizabeth Gilbert Williams, and by his brother, CW3 George “Terry” Williams, Jr. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life, and he carried the values they instilled in him with honor and grace.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Mary Lee Williams; three children: Reverend Truman (Nikky) Williams, Jr. of Dothan, Alabama, Kelekia (Jauan) Starks of Elba, Alabama, and William “Cord” Pruitt of Dothan, Alabama. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Khiran Rashaad Williams, Cameron Jamison Williams, Kalil Magwood, Armani Latimer, and Jiauni “JiJi” Starks, each of whom brought joy and pride to his life.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Retired Command Sergeant Major R. Herman (Geraldine) Williams of Red Springs, North Carolina, Oretha (James) Lewis, of Conyers, Georgia, Jerry Williams of Pensacola, Florida, Lynn (Josephus) Summers of Daleville, Alabama, and Frances Williams (Harold) Ford. He also leaves behind sisters and brothers-in-law Kawania Lawton, Michael Lawton, Sr., Willie “Chub” Lawton, Linda “Sue” Lemons, and Ann Lawton, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will forever treasure his memory.
