Tricia Nacole Cummings, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away after a valiant battle with illness on October 4, 2024, at the age of 45. Born on February 18, 1979, in Dothan, Alabama, she was the cherished daughter of Linda Lucus and Willie Jackson. Tricia's early life in Alabama was filled with the joys of Southern living and the love of a close-knit family.
She attended Webb Elementary and Ashford High School, where her amiable nature and friendly disposition earned her many lifelong friends. Tricia's passions were as nurturing as her personality; she adored cooking and could often be found experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, much to the delight of her family and friends. She also had a love for documentary shows, which reflected her inquisitive mind and desire to understand the world around her. Tricia took pride in her home, dedicating herself to creating a clean and welcoming environment for all who entered.
Above all, Tricia's heart belonged to her children, who were her pride and joy. She often said that motherhood was her greatest achievement and her children were her world. Her love for them shone brightly, guiding them with compassion and unwavering support throughout their lives.
On December 21, 2007, Tricia married her beloved husband, Bernard Cummings, and together they shared twenty-two years of love, laughter, and cherished memories. As a loving wife, Tricia was a pillar of strength and a constant source of encouragement to Bernard, fostering a partnership that was admired by all who knew them.
Tricia was a remarkable mother not only to her five children, Tavarous, Briana, Brandon, Keleen, and Dashawn, but also to her two bonus children, Bernard Jr. and Jaden. Her nurturing spirit extended to her role as a devoted grandmother to Kaysen, Ivy, and Nhori, whom she adored with all her heart.
She is survived by her doting parents, Linda and Sonny Lucas, and Willie Jackson, who will forever treasure the memories of their loving daughter. Tricia's unique bond with her only sister, Latasha (Tyrone) McGriff, was a source of mutual admiration and deep affection. She was a sister held in high esteem by her brothers, Undra (Deanna) Jackson, Marcus Jackson, and Dominic Wilson, who will miss her presence profoundly.
Tricia's family circle included her cherished mother-in-law, Elma Cummings, and sister-in-law, Debra (Quentin) Lewis. Her nieces and nephews, Kellis, Tyun, Jullian, Trenten, Tristen, and Chasten, will carry the legacy of her kindness and the warmth of her love with them always. A host of other relatives and friends will continue to feel the impact of Tricia's friendly and loving nature, which brought so much joy to their lives.
Tricia's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of familial bonds. Her legacy is one of compassion, friendship, and an unwavering commitment to her family. As we mourn the loss of such a remarkable woman, we also celebrate the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those who knew her. Tricia Nacole Cummings will forever be remembered as a loving mother, devoted wife, caring daughter, and loyal friend. Her light, though no longer present in this world, will continue to shine in the lives of those she loved. We will cherish her memories in our hearts forever, and she will never be forgotten.
