Tawana Johnson Life and Times

Tawana Michele Davis Johnson, affectionately known as Tee by those who knew and loved her, graced this world with her presence on March 15, 1971, in Dothan, Alabama. She was a beacon of light and a source of unwavering strength until her peaceful passing in the same loving community on December 9, 2023. Tee's journey on Earth was one marked by an infectious zest for life, a commitment to education, and the profound impact she had on her family and friends.

Born to the late Larry Davis and Ernestine Salter, Tawana's early years were filled with the warmth of family and the joys of discovery. She grew up surrounded by a circle of love that included her devoted sisters, Katrina Hagler, Tonya (Jessie) Rodgers, and Tiffany McKenzie, and her protective brothers, Isaac Salter, Terry Palmore, Quan (Tonika) Davis, Jermaine Wynn, and Terez Salter. Tawana's educational journey began in the Dothan City School System, culminating in her proud graduation from Northview High School with the Class of 1989. Her thirst for knowledge and personal growth led her to Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where she earned a Degree in Business Administration, a testament to her dedication and hard work.

Tawana's life was a living example of Maya Angelou's powerful words, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." Tee embodied this mission, thriving in every aspect of her life, and inspiring those around her to pursue their dreams with passion and determination. Her compassionate heart touched many, and her humor brought joy and laughter to even the most mundane moments.

As a mother, Tawana was unparalleled. Her daughters, Keara (Ray) Stewart and Kayla (Niyah) Johnson, were the apples of her eye, the pride of her life. She nurtured them with love, instilled in them the values of hard work and integrity, and rejoiced in their accomplishments. Tee's role as a grandmother to Harmony, Hayden, and Harrison Stewart was a source of immense joy. She delighted in their every milestone and enveloped them in the same love and guidance she had provided to her own children.

Tawana's legacy is also carried forward by all her nieces and nephews especially her special friends, including Michelle and Barker, Mia Robinson, Colette and Walter Wordlaw, Beverly Ward, Renee Barker, Jenese McCarroll, and Albert Hagler. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she in theirs. Her aunts, uncles, and countless friends also feel the profound loss of Tawana's departure, yet they find comfort in the wealth of memories and the love she shared so generously.

Tee was a friend to many, a confidant to those in need, and a mentor to the young and old alike. Her special friends, who walked with her through life's highs and lows, will forever cherish the moments they shared and the wisdom she imparted. Tawana's influence extended beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her passing, Tawana Michele Davis Johnson leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, resilience, and empowerment. She demonstrated through her actions that life's truest success comes not from what we acquire, but from the lives we touch and the love we spread. As we reflect on Tee's extraordinary life, we are reminded to live each day with purpose, to embrace our loved ones, and to leave a positive imprint on the world, just as she did.

Tawana's story does not end with her passing; it continues in the lives of those she inspired. Her spirit will forever guide us, her laughter will echo in our memories, and her love will remain in our hearts. As we say farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in knowing that her light will never fade. She lived, she loved, she thrived, and in doing so, she showed us all the beauty of a life well-lived.
