Tameka Walker

Ms. Tameka Walker, age 45, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

Drive through visitation will be Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 3 PM to 5 PM at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 12 PM at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Ms. Tameka Nickcole Walker was born to Larry Matthews and Carrie Walker, on September 27, 1975, in Dothan, Alabama.

Tameka accepted Christ in her life at an early age.  She graduated from Northview High School in 1993.  Tameka furthered her education at Colorado Tech University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science-Healthcare Management in 2009 and a Master of Science-Business Administration in 2014.

Tameka was a vigorous, young woman with endless compassion and kindness for those whom she loved.  Tameka treasured children, spending time with family, laughing, and always wearing a smile on her face.  She was a loving and caring person, devoted daughter, mother, sister, and friend.  Tameka always thought of others first.  She yearned to make a difference in all lives she encountered.  Her close friends knew her to be an accountable and all-around loving individual.  She was a sweet and sassy person who never met a stranger.  Although she was kind hearted, she stood her ground on her beliefs.  "To know her was to love her".  With her contagious laugh gone, a light in this dark world has dimmed.

Tameka unexpectedly departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her grandmothers: Eloise Walker and Ruthie L. Koonce; aunt: Sarah Lewis; brothers: Darrion Clark, Terron Matthews, and Cebran "CJ" Matthews; and sister: Shardai Matthews-Russell.

Her legacy lives on through her loving mother: Carrie Walker; devoted children: Braxton "BT" (Khadijah) Crews and Tempestt N. Brown; two sisters: Kienda Koonce and Toya Ricks; aunts: Machell Walker, Linda Taplin, Gloria Anglin, and Kathy Walker; uncle: Russell Walker; Godchildren: Alencia Shipman McKissick and Legend Warren; special cousins: Derrick Knight and Christopher Knight; special friend: Kindra Trawick; a beloved dog: Daisy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
