Ms. Shirley Dean Brackins of Midland City, Alabama passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the age of 78.
Public visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 4-6PM at the Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery; 4850 County Road 73, Newville, Alabama 36353 under the direction of the caring staff of Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary "Because We Care."

On the morning of May 5, 2022, God picked another precious flower from his garden for eternal comfort and rest, Shirley Dean Brackins.
Shirley D. Brackins was born on October 4, 1943 in Newville, AL to the late Virgle and Serreather Brackins.
At a very early age, Shirley accepted Christ and became a member of Mount. Sinai Baptist Church, Newville, Alabama. She attended Newville Rosenwald School during her primary years. The family later moved to Dale County, Alabama where Shirley graduated from Pinkard High School as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1961.
From a very young age, Shirley was inquisitive and eager to enter the work force. Therefore, upon graduation, Shirley moved to California to pursue courses in secretarial studies. However, in 1963 she made the decision to return home to assist with her mother's declining health. Upon returning, Shirley was employed at Dothan Hosiery Mill and later retired in 1999 from General Electric after 25 years of service where she was recognized for perfect attendance for the entire 25 years.
Shirley was proceeded in death by her parents; her sister Vertice Johnson and three brothers, Willie Earl, Hurley, and Leon Ambrose Brackins.
Known as a second mother to many nieces and nephews, cousins and family was very important to Shirley as she welcomed all to the family house "on the hill". Many cherished memories will forever be remembered by: her seven siblings to include loving sister and best friend Clefornia (Jesse) Salter, Bonnie Williams, Winnie Ruth Blackwood, Evera Smith, Yvonne Lammons, Ernestine (Tellis) Copeland and Gloria (Robert) Copeland; two sister-in-laws: Sherry Brackins and Barbara Brackins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, whom she considered all her own.
