Sherry McDaniel

Ms. Sherry McDaniel, ag 64 of Midland City, Alabama departed this life on Thursday, October 22, 2020.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 2:30 PM at Botanical Gardens; 5130 Headland Avenue Dothan, Alabama 36303.

Sherry McDaniel was born on June 14, 1956 in Montgomery, Alabama to Eddie L. McDaniel and Kattie B. Steele McDaniel. She accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful member of Stringer Street AME Church in Dothan, Alabama. 
 

Sherry earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Masters from Alabama State University in 1978.  She accepted a job from Houston County City Schools on September 1, 1979 and retired on December 1, 2013. As a lifelong Kindergarten teacher, she found joy in preparing her students for life after high school, graduation, whether in education or another field. Sherry believed in her students and often cared for them as if they were her own. 
 

While Sherry taught and pursued her career goals, there was no greater joy than her time spent with friends and family. Sherry was a proud member of the community. She enjoyed the company of her friends, neighbors, good jazz music, sweets, and classic movies.
Sherry’s leaves behind her son, Ephraim McDaniel, granddaughter Teandera McDaniel, two siblings, Dr. Linda Crowley and Kathy McDaniel. She loved her aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, extended family, and neighbors, all who loved her dearly. 
Sherry is fondly remembered for her outgoing personality, quiet strength, loving heart, charismatic spirit, and captivating smile.
