Sharon Denett Blakely was born on January 11, 1967. She was the first child of Willie James Blakely and Mary Jane Blakely, and later became the oldest of her five siblings. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of Pleasant Grove CME Church where she was an active member anddevoted usher.
She graduated from Bullock County High School in 1985. She obtained an associate’s degree in business from Wallace Community College. Sharon devoted 33 years of her life working for Easterling Correctional Facility as a mailroom clerk. Her tenure at the Easterling Correctional Facility allowed her to provide her girls with a great life.
In addition to her career, Sharon enjoyed hanging out with her friends from the class of 1985, shopping, traveling and spending time with her girls.
On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, God called the name of Sharon Denett Blakely, and she received her wings at the age of 58 years old. Sharon leaves this world to join her parents Willie James and Mary Jane Blakely and her brother Terell Blakely.
Sharon is survived by her devoted daughters, Temekia Blakely of Birmingham, AL, and Harmonie Gachett of Troy, AL and beloved granddaughter, Harper Wilson of Birmingham, AL, who was truly the light of her life.
She leaves behind three brothers and one sister to honor her legacy and treasure the long-lasting memories they shared:Willie James Blakely (Union Springs AL), Tony (Ieshia) Blakely (Los Angeles, CA), Tanya McKinnon (Union Springs, AL), Quinton Blakely (Union Springs, AL).
