Shannette Yvonne Colbert, a beacon of light and love arrived on August 7, 1989 and departed on August 23, 2024. Shannette was born in Miami Dade, Florida to the mother of Dannette Green (Timothy Green) of Dothan, Alabama and biological father, Eric Brunson, Sr., Newark, New Jersey.
Shannette was a resident of High Point, North Carolina but resided in Dothan, Alabama for the last ten years. She graduated from T. Wingate Andrews high School in High Point, North Carolina. She attended Bennett Middle College in Greensboro, North Carolina and also was educated at Guilford Technical Community, Greensboro, North Carolina.
She was employed in Dothan, Alabama at the Hilton’s Garden Inn where she was a phenomenal inspirational spiritual energy that effected everyone that she encountered.
Throughout her life, Shai’s heart was intertwined with the lives of her family members and friends who she loved with unwavering passion. She was preceded in death by her by her maternal grandfather, Danny L. Rogers, Sr.
Her legacy lives on through her beautiful four children: Justyce Brunson, Jaceon Brunson, Ju’Bella and her beloved baby boy III of Dothan, Alabama; seven brothers: Adidas Harris (Antwanette Harris), Dothan, Alabama, Daequan Allen of High Point, North Carolina, Shyking Ledbetter of Wadesboro, North Carolina, Silas Green of New Berry, South Caroline, Eric Brunson, Jr. Darius Brunson and Dajon Brunson; four sisters: Dynistee Brunson, Erika Brunson, Alicia Brunson and Ahsyus Brunson maternal grandmother, Geraldine Rogers of Chipley, Florida; she has several half sisters and brothers.
She was beloved by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Her presence was a gift to all who knew her and her influence extended far beyond her immediate circle. Her life was a living example of her favorite quote “Respectfully”.
Shai’s story is not one of an end but continuation as we celebrate her guiding light for all of us that will always love her FOREVER.
