Sarah Frances Dean Thomas was born on May 14, 1941, and was the second child of the late Eular C. and Low Dell Dean.
Sunday afternoon October 22, 2023, God softly whispered, “Sarah, my child come home and enter into your eternal rest.”
Sarah attended Northside Schools in Headland, AL. At an early age she joined St. Peter A.M.E. Church, in Headland, where she was a loyal member of the Missionary Board, Stewardess Board, and adult and senior choirs, and served faithfully until her departure.
She was employed by many companies within the wiregrass and retired from West Point Pepperell in Abbeville, AL. Sarah enjoyed sitting with the elderly and attended Burdeshaw Solomon Community Center in Headland, AL and Newville Senior Citizens Center. Sarah was a dedicated Alabama Crimson Tide fan, but most of all she loved the LORD, church, and her family.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Mr. James Thomas; brothers Johnny C. Dean, Charles Edward Dean, and John Dean; sisters Eular Mae Rhodes, Nora Dell Jackson, and Christine Campbell; and son-in-law Reverend Frank Sankey.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter Frances Rhodes Sankey (Montgomery, AL) and son Fredwick (Marcella) Rhodes (Columbus, GA). Grandchildren: Gaius T. Rhodes (Dothan, AL), Darnell (Joy) Wells and Kradizhra K. Walker, both of Columbus, GA; and Dr. Rashidra R. Walker (Tallahassee, FL). Two loving sisters, Brenda Jackson of Headland, AL and Valerie Valdaz of Tampa, FL. Four caring brothers Daniel Dean, Scotty Dean, and Kenneth Dean all of Headland, AL, and Mott Lee (Emma) Dean of Dothan, AL. Six great-grandchildren: My’Kyla C. Walker, Kaylynn E. Rhodes, Lylian V. Rhodes, Mareya E. Rhodes, Makai T. Rhodes, and Jaxon Wells. Sister-in-law Marie Thomas of Midland City, AL and three special nieces Damitra T. Jackson and Jayona Jackson, both of Headland, AL, and Jasmine Reeves of Dothan, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
