Sister Sarah (Abbie) Glass, a devoted servant of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and cherished community member, returned to our Father on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. She was 88 years old.
Born on June 8, 1937, to Jeff and Willie Beatrice Abbie of Geneva County, Alabama, Sister Sarah lived a life grounded in faith, exemplified by her motto, “It Is Well With My Soul,” and the scripture Philippians 4:6-7.
In her early years, she dedicated herself to the healthcare industry, touching many lives with her care. As the proud First Lady, Sister Sarah served alongside her beloved late husband, Reverend Benjamin Lee Glass, during his tenure with the AME Church. Together, they raised their only child, Sandra E. Henderson. To all who knew her, Sister Sarah was much more than a title; she was a sister, mom, friend, aunt, grandmother, and prayer warrior, known for her unwavering spirit and compassionate heart.
Sister Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Willie Beatrice Abbie; her siblings Roy Buford, Mary Catherine, George, Milton (Honey), Dewey, Foye, and Cara Helen; her late husband Reverend Benjamin Lee Glass; her daughter Sandra E. Henderson; her grandson Jeffrey J. Henderson; and several grandnephew's and grandneice’s.
She is survived by her son-in-law Reginald Henderson; her grandchildren Shontalette Robinson, Regina (Jeurell) Smith, and Reginald B.F (Joy) Henderson; and her greatgrandchildren Ava Robinson, Sophia Robinson, Andre Robinson, Langdon Smith, and Olivia Smith. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved extended family friends
