On May 17, 1930, Rufus Feggins was welcomed into the world, born to the late Allen and Bell Feggins. On Saturday, August 9, 2025, God called him from labor to reward, and he peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home.
Rufus was educated in the public school system of Henry County. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter and worked in construction, building homes with dedication and skill until his retirement at the age of 70.
A devoted member of Center Missionary Baptist Church, Rufus faithfully served on the Deacon Board and was honored as the oldest deacon in the congregation. Rufus loved to sing and was also a cherished member of the Greater Shiloh Male Chorus and Henry County Male Chorus. His joyful, infectious laugh could be heard echoing throughout the church.
On December 18, 1955, Rufus married the love of his life, Mamie Lee Brown. Their union was blessed with two children, Myron and Russell. Rufus treasured his family deeply and found joy in simple pleasures—watching wrestling, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, eating ice cream, and spending time at the Senior Citizens Center. Known for his warm spirit, he never met a stranger and greeted everyone like family.
Life without him will never be the same, but we are forever grateful to God for blessing us with his presence for 95 remarkable years. Rufus was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mamie Lee Feggins; his son, Russell Feggins; his brothers, Will, Floyd, and Bob; and his sisters, Grace, Gladys, and Essie D.
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his son, Myron (Helen) Feggins, Sr. of Warner Robins, GA; daughter-in-law, Sheila Feggins of Newville, AL; grandchildren, Shalitha (Derman) Lawrence of Atlanta, GA, Myron Feggins, Jr. of Perry, GA, Bryant Feggins of Warner Robins, GA, and Brandon Feggins of Newville, AL; great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Blake, Camden, Maxwell, Kristopher, Brandon Jr., and Gionna; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
