Sister Ruby Lee Tharpe was born on December 26, 1942 to the late Millard Danzey and Ossie Moore in Halesburg, Alabama.
Ruby accepted Christ at an early age. She received a board certified education in rural Alabama. She met her husband in the late 1950s. Sister Ruby was devoted to her family and husband. Most importantly, devoted to her Pentecostal faith. She was hailed as the woman with 'healing hands' which she ministered to many individuals as an active member of the House of Prayer Pentacostal Church.
Her occupation ranged from Food services, domestic housekeeping, and family homemaker for her immediate and extended family. She is affectionately considered the “favorite AUNTIE” by a host of her nieces and nephews. Ruby was also a minister of song and she has performed at many churches over the years.
Sister Ruby Lee Tharpe, 79 years of age, went to be with the Lord on the 6th of September 2021 peacefully with her loving family members in Dothan, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband: Paul Tharpe; two sisters: Robbie (J.B.) Johnson and Sally Mae Danzey.
She leaves the cherish her precious memories eight children: Terry (Sonia) Tharpe, Sandra Tharpe, Michael (Patricia) Tharpe, Sheron (Michael) Woods, Harvey Tharpe, Ivie Tharpe, Felicia (Bernard) Washington and Paula Tharpe; twenty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; six brothers: Herman, Frank, Columbus Earl, Jeremiah, June, and Harry Danzey; two sisters: Mary Danzey and Martha Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Sister Ruby Tharpe was faithful and demonstrated holiness so God exchanged her many years of laboring for His work to bring her into peace on this Labor Day of 2021.
Sister Ruby would always remind others who listened that “to be absent from this body means to present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). Ruby Lee Tharpe was a strong warrior of Christ and she fought the good fight of faith and now awaits a great reward.
