Robie Spears Life and Times

Mother Robie Spears, age 104, of Stamford, Connecticut; formerly a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 2 PM at Georgette L. Scott Memorial Chapel, 814 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1635 County Road 30, Ozark, Alabama 36360.

Mother Robie Spears was born on August 4, 1917, in Dale County, to the late Mag Gissendaner and Emily Newman Gissendaner.

She accepted Christ at an early age.  After moving to Dothan, she joined Adam St. Baptist Church; where she faithfully attended until she moved to Stamford, Connecticut.  There, she worshipped at Wilson Memorial Church of God in Christ until her health prevented her from attending.

She was a quiet, loving person who loved the Lord, cooking, and sharing.  She was "Mom" to everyone that knew her; from the youngest to the oldest.

Mother Robie Spears, a resident of Stamford, Connecticut for 52 years, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Cassena Care Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by one daughter: Robie Davis; two grandsons: Vernon Wilson and Keith Spears; one granddaughter: Vanessa Spears; six brothers: Bishop, Waymon, James, Robert, Otis, and Gus Gissendaner; and two sisters: Ida and Era M. Crowell.

Robie leaves, to cherish her memory, three daughters: Dorothy Spears, Martha Coleman both of Stamford, Connecticut, and Barbara Morris of Dothan, Alabama; four grandsons: Gerry Spears of California, Christopher Coleman, Spencer Gissendaner, and Johnny Gadson both of Stamford, Connecticut; one granddaughter: Leandra Brandon of North Carolina; two great grandsons: Keith Rollinson and Vernon Wilson; one great granddaughter: Maddie Brandon of North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
