Robert Redding Life and Times

Mr. Robert Earl Redding, 80 years old, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022.

On Saturday, June 7, 1941, Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Beurea Mae Redding became the proud parents of Robert Earl Redding in Ashford, Alabama.

His primary education commenced at Ashford Colored School.  A proud member of the Class of 1959.

After graduation, he continued his studies.  Robert excelled in his studies and furthered his education at Alabama State University.  His area of concentration was Accounting.  He, later, received his CPA license.

Robert, realizing there were more lucrative employment opportunities in his field of study,  moved to New York.  Wall Street knew Robert was coming.  Before the end of his initial interview, Robert was hired.  His gift had made more room for him and presented him before great men.

After working on Wall Street for five years, he furthered his employment career at Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).  He was employed with MTA until 1989 and retired after 20 years.  After retirement, he moved back to Alabama.  Not one to sit idly by, he continued working part-time.

Robert was a faithful and devoted member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church; where he was a member of the Male Choir, under the leadership of Pastor Vincent T. Owens.  He served there, faithfully, until his health declined.

Robert met and married Gussie (Pitts) Redding and to this union, two lovely daughters were born: Tereska and Tara Redding.

Robert met Barbara in 2015.  Years later, this relationship blossomed into a beautiful, fragrant flower of marriage.

As it pleased the Almighty God to call Robert's soul home, he departed this earthly life for eternal life on Sunday, March 20, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: John A. Dawsey and Dwight Redding.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife: Barbara Redding; daughters: Tereska Redding of Phoenix, Arizona and Tara Lopez of Neptune, New Jersey; granddaughter: Athena Redding-Morgan of Columbia, Carolina; brother: Trawick (Lillie) Redding of Ozark, Alabama; sister: Gloria Constance Sylvester of Tampa, Florida; sister-in-law: Lester Dawsey of Atlanta, Georgia; brother/cousin: Willie "Joe" Kirkland of Richland, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing family and friends.
