Richard Allen Rivers

The Gift of Life

Richard Allen Rivers was born on January 23, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Willie Mae Rivers.  He was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Willene Coleman.

The Professional Life

He confessed Christ at an early age.  He was a member of Parks Chapel AME Church, beginning when the church was on Montana Street, until his demise.  He was a diligent and hard working employee with PEMCO from 1976 until 2013.

The Enjoyment of Life

On July 18, 1983, Richard was united in Holy Matrimony to a beautiful young woman, Patricia A. Rivers.  They shared a special bond and loved each other unconditionally.

The Eternal Life

Richard entered into the eternal arms of Jesus Christ on Friday, September 2, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. and Mrs. Willene Coleman; and his wife: Patricia Rivers.

A Cherished Life

Those left to cherish his memories are his four daughters: Phyllis (Horace) Williams, LaRhonda (Joe) Tyler, Antoinett Mixon, and Samantha (Andre) Martin all of Dothan, Alabama; two sons: Patrick (Alaina) Bennett, and Richard (Nekina) Rivers both of Dothan, Alabama.  He loved all seventeen of his grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one goddaughter: Kathy Poke Cullins; two brothers-in-law: David Godfrey and Johnny Godfrey; one sister-in-law: Anginette Green and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
