Raymond Lawson Life and Times

Mr. Raymond Lawson, age 88, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Monday, March 29, 2021.

Drive through visitation will be Friday, April 2, 2021 from 3 PM to 5 PM at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 11 AM at North Highland Cemetery.

On January 1, 1933, Raymond E. Lawson was born to Oscar and Annie Lee Lawson, in Enterprise, Alabama.  He was raised in a loving Christian home.  he followed his Christian teachings, as he was a faithful member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Dothan, Alabama.

Mr. Lawson met and married the love of his life, Mrs. Edith Lawson, in 1959.  Their love and devotion lasted until Mrs. Lawson departed this earthly home in March of 2000.  Mr. Lawson was a hard working man, who worked many different jobs and had many skills to support his family.  He retired after years of service from the First United Methodist Church in Dothan.  Mr. Lawson was a man who who kept to himself, but was always willing to help those that needed him.  Always there to support me or family in any endeavor that he could.  He was so proud of his grandchildren, and even as his health declined, his face would light up upon seeing their photos or hearing their accomplishments.  Their pursuit of careers and education was very important to him.  He and my mother kept my children every summer, so that I could work full time and get my college degree; while they both worked full time jobs, as well.  That's the kind of love that they both gave.  Some would ask if he was my stepfather.  I only know that he stepped up to the plate to love us, protect us and provide for us...

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He leaves fond memories to be cherished by those who loved him, loving daughters: Wanda Christiani of Palm Coast, Florida and Sheila, LKA in California; devoted brothers: Oscar Lawson, Jr. of Tampa, Florida and Floyd (Sharon) Lawson of Montreal, Canada; a devoted niece: Sebrebian Seward of Los Angeles, California; loving grandchildren: Valerie Duncan of Jupiter, Florida, Kevin Duncan of Miami, Florida, and Leslie (Clarissa) Christiani of Las Vegas, Nevada; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and others who have known him as his cousin, uncle or extended family.  Countless neighbors and friends who have been so loving and supportive.  As the African Proverb says, "It takes a village", and there was the presence of a village who gave 100 percent support.

His presence will remain in our hearts forever.  You can rest in eternal peace daddy.  Your work on earth is done.  Job well done...
