For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain… Philippians 1:21
Ms. Pearl McKenzie, a beacon of love, passion, and spirit, took her final bow on August 13, 2023, in Bonifay, Florida, after 88 years of a life well-lived. Born on January 1, 1935, in Louisville, Alabama, Pearl's life was a radiant testament to the power of faith, resilience, and the human spirit.
Pearl was the beloved daughter of the late Prudie McKenzie and cherished sister to Janie McKenzie, Brother: Reverend Willie McKenzie, and Robert McKenzie; nephew: Willie McKenzie, Jr and her sister-in-law: Katie B. McKenzie whom preceded her in death.
She was a loving sister-in-law to Cora Lee McKenzie and a doting aunt to nieces Verna Rigglesprigger, Betty Wright, Evelyn Kennard, Brenda Reynolds, and Myra Cobb. Pearl's life was further enriched by a host of great nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She also held a special bond with Mrs. Eula Broxton, whom she fondly called Mama, and the Broxton Assisted Living Facility family.
Pearl's journey was one of unwavering faith and devotion. She believed that God, in His ultimate wisdom, chose to fill an empty space in His Heavenly flower garden. Her belief came to fruition when the Almighty wrapped His arms around her and lifted her to rest. This steadfast faith was the bedrock of Pearl's life, and she embraced every moment with gratitude and joy. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, and her spirit and passion were a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
Pearl was a woman of great spirit, her passion for life was infectious, and she never missed an opportunity to share her love with the world around her. Her smile was radiant, and her laughter was like a melody that echoed in the hearts of those who loved her. Pearl believed in living life to the fullest, cherishing every moment, and never taking a single day for granted.
Pearl's legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. She was a pillar of strength for her family and a source of inspiration for her community. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, and her spirit was a beacon of hope for all who knew her. Pearl's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her loved ones, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
“Life is a journey, not a destination. Every day is a gift, and every moment is a blessing." As we mourn her departure, we also celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a spirit that will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
In closing, we take comfort in knowing that Pearl is now at rest in the Heavenly garden she often spoke about. Her journey on earth may have ended, but her spirit continues to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Pearl McKenzie, your love, passion, and spirit will forever be our guiding light. Rest in peace, dear Pearl. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
