Oletha Holley Life and Times

Mrs. Oletha Jean McDaniel Holley was born on November 22, 1952, to the late John McDaniel and Mattie Lou McDaniel. She departed this life leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to family.

A lifelong member of Stringer Street A.M.E. Church, Oletha faithfully served the Lord and her church family throughout her life. Her unwavering faith guided her actions and was evident in the love, compassion, and generosity she extended to others.

Oletha was a trailblazer in education and her community. She was a member of the first integrated graduating class of Dothan High School, earning her diploma in 1970. She continued her education at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.  She dedicated 39 years to the field of education in the Augusta, Georgia school system and later in the Dothan City School System. She was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Oletha was united in holy matrimony with Wilson Holley, and together they built a life grounded in faith, love, and mutual support. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Family was at the center of her life and her home was a place of warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to create lasting memories with them. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John McDaniel and Mattie Lou McDaniel.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted husband, Wilson Holley; one son, Keith (Lajuana) Weston; one daughter, Kimberly (Nathan) Tuopaeh; four beloved grandchildren, Grant Weston, Kennedy Weston, Ethan Tuopaeh, and Eden Tuopaeh; three sisters, Shanetha Whitehurst, Rometha (Rev. Larry) Norton, and Murlene (Willie) Hampton; sisters-in-law, Sonya K. (Lorenzo) Thompson and Rhonda (Wallace) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Terrance K. (Angela) Holley and Travis (Patrice) Holley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
