Nina Ruth Gibbs was born on December 14, 1948, in Henry County, Alabama, to the late Tom and Mary Lee (Flowers) Martin. She was the youngest of eight children and a proud graduate of Northside High School in Headland, Alabama. She began her working years in manufacturing at Wex-Tex Pajama Factory and later retired from Ansell in Dothan, Alabama. She was a devoted and faithful member of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church (formerly Shiloh Baptist Church), where she served diligently as co-leader of the Boys Junior Ushers. She was a woman of deep faith and compassion, Nina had a heart that extended far beyond her immediate family. Nina was also a dedicated supporter of her community serving with the Headland High School Band Boosters and other fundraisers when needed.
Nina was united in marriage May 1970 to Charles “Pete” Hollis, who preceded her in death in July 1997 after 27 years of marriage. She entered her second marriage to Willie Daniel Gibbs, in June 1998. They shared 24 years together until his passing in November 2022. In addition to her husbands, Nina was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Martin; her sister, Mary Townsend; and her nephews, Jerome Martin, Carl Martin, and Michael Farmer.
