Mother Mae Smith Life and Times

Mae Etta Smith was born on July 31, 1936  in Montros, Georgia to Willie Babbs and Rosa Lee Vickers-Babbs, she went to school in Laurens County.

At a early age she gave her life to the Lord. Mae attended Church of God In Christ. Her Pastor was the late Elder Hood in Montrose, Georgia. She was faithful to God and served faithfully in her Church.

Later, Mae Etta Babbs moved to Florida and met Moses Smith. On September 16., 1956, she said “I Do” and married Moses Smith. After marring she joined the Church of God by Faith. Where she served faithfully for many years under Pastor Willie Britt for eleven years.

Mae Etta Smith was a loving wife and a sweet mother. She loved to laugh and drink coffee. But  most of all she loved spending time with her family. She had a heart full of love for everyone she came in contact with.

Mae Etta Smith was preceded in death by her parents: Rosa Babbs and Willie Babbs; her brothers: Leo Babbs, Earnest Babbs and Sam Babbs; her sister, Lula Mae Jones.

On January 9, 2023, Mother Smith answered the ultimate call, “Servant of God, Well Done”.

Mae Etta Smith leaves to cherish memories by her beloved husband, Elder Moses Smith of sixty-six years. She loved her husband dearly. She leaves two sons: Andrew Smith and Cecile Lee Smith; seven daughters: Sandy Smith, Diane Roberts (Pastor Willie Roberts), Susan Smith, Pearline Smith, Denise Smith, Patricia Smith and Cindy Smith; she also leaves to cherish her three sisters: Ida Mae Fraley and Willie Christine Babbs both of Macon, Georgia and Rosa Mae Babbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and others she loved and cherished.
