Mrs. McCray was born in Henry County, Alabama on February 9, 1931 to the late Willie Effie Jackson.
Mrs. McCray later moved to Dothan, Alabama where she married her husband Carl O. McCray and had four beautiful daughters. At an early age she worked at Moody Hospital onto Southeast Alabama Medical Center where she cooked in Dietary for thirty-seven years until she retired. She then continued on cooking at Brenda's Prepatory School for over twenty years.
Minnie was a gentle and kind soul, who didn't mind helping her fellow man. She was a faithful member at North Highland Baptist Church until her health started failing, but she continue her studied with church member over the phone. Mrs. McCray will be truly missed by all those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband: Carl O. McCray; her daughter: Annie P. Hayes; mother-in-law: Easter M. Stringer; brothers: Calvin and Willie Jackson; sister: Ella G. Jackson; granddaughters: Dashia Hailey, Ursula and Jessica McCray; grandson: Percy Gill; and her son-in-law: Grover Pierson, Jr.
Mrs. Minnie P. McCray, age 92 of Dothan, Alabama departed this life and gained her wings on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
Mrs. McCray leaves to cherish her precious memories with several loved ones her daughters: Barbara Pierson, Linda (Larry) Banks all of Dothan, Alabama and Carol (Jessie) Smith of St. Petersburg, Florida; son-in-law: Charles Hayes of Dothan, Alabama; her loving grandchildren: Zavier, Zaccheaus McCray, Erica (Scott) Faulk, Christen Gill, Daphne McCray, Larry Lawrence, Lance Banks all of Dothan, Alabama, Senica (Rob) Zmich of Atlanta, Georgia, Brandon (Shaunesia) of St. Peterburg, Florida and Phillip Hailey of Sandford, Florida; fourteen great grandchildren: Atyia, Xavier, Azavia and David McCray; Zaddria, Zacheaus McCray, Jr, Antonio May, Marion Turner, Joshua Gill, Jakeia McCray, Jakorey Corbitt, Jaleel and Braylon Smith; Goddaughter: Terri L. Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
