Mildred (Johnson) White

Mrs. Mildred Johnson White was born on December 30, 1931 to the late Mr. Samuel Johnson & Mrs. Lucille Randolph Johnson in Dothan AL. 

She was a member of Mt Pleasant Baptist Missionary Church Slocomb AL, where she sang in the adult choir & served on the kitchen committee. She was an excellent cook and was known for cooking “white peas”. She was affectionately known as “Granny” and “Drysdale.” You could count on her for a good laugh!  She worked hard at Gaylord’s Department Store in the Clothing Department in Dothan AL. Also, she was a domestic worker in Slocomb AL. She loved her family-unconditionally!  She raised her own children and grandchildren- her pride and joy raising them with motherly love & discipline. Preparing Sunday Dinners for the entire family and anyone else who stopped by was her specialty. She spent many hours with her grandchildren and prepared meals for them many years until her health failed her. Everybody felt welcome in her home and to her delicious & tasty meals. Both family & friends looked forward to going to Granny’s house on Sundays!

She was preceded in death by her husband: Coy Lee White and a step-son, Tommy Lee White.

She is survived by five children: Lucille (Reverend Jerome) Council of Rex GA; Grady of Slocomb AL, Lois (Dwight) Parker of Jacksonville FL, John L. White of Dothan AL and Posie White, Hartford AL. Also, surviving her are fourteen grands: Natasha (Shamel) Brown; Christina (Larry) Hillard, Michelle (Urnea ), Jimmy Cato Jr, Shanna Collins,  Kenyatta Fred Collins,  Jamal Collins, Grady White Jr, Lamar Neal;  James Lawson,  Derrick Smith & Nakia Robinson, and a host of great grands, great-great grands and several nephews and nieces. Momma Mildred was a devoted & faithful mother & grandmother loved by her family & friends.
