Mr. Mike Coachman, age 93, of Cottonwood, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
Drive through visitation will be Friday, October 15, 2021 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 1 PM at Cottonwood High School's Gymnasium, 663 Houston Street, Cottonwood, Alabama 36320.
Burial will immediately follow the service at Union Hill Church Cemetery, 1499 Dyras Road, Cottonwood, Alabama 36320.
Deacon Mike Charles Coachman, also known as "Scooter", was born on October 12, 1927, in Ebro, Florida, to Pastor West and Mother Niece Coachman.
He accepted Christ as the head of his life and went on to serve as a deacon at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church. His love and commitment to the church continued until his death.
Deacon M.C. Coachman married Mother Annie Bell Coachman on February 9, 1953, in Dothan, Alabama. God blessed this 68 year union with 15 children (10 boys and 5 girls).
On Wednesday, October 6, 2021, Deacon M.C. Coachman transitioned from labor to reward. As he took his wings to fly away, he was already preceded in death by his parents: West and Niece Coachman; two brothers: John and Sherman Coachman; and two children: Theresa and Clearance Coachman.
He leaves to cherish his wife: Annie Bell Coachman; children: Jimmy L. (Martha) Coachman, Sr. of Gordon, Alabama, Samuel (Latania) Coachman, Jerline (Harold) Corbitt, Earline (Herbert) Caphart, Bobby (Maggie) Coachman, Barbara Coachman all of Cottonwood, Alabama, Danny (Robin) Coachman of Dothan, Alabama, James Coachman, Charles Coachman both of Cottonwood, Alabama, Stephen Coachman of Dothan, Alabama, Stacey (Tracy) Coachman of Slocomb, Alabama, Chad (Verlisa) Coachman of Pelham, Alabama and Angela Coachman of Cottonwood, Alabama.
He also leaves a rich heritage of 33 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves the longest living Coachman member, his aunt: Virgie Coachman Baldwin (98) of Brooklyn, New York.
