Michelle Simmons Life and Times

The life journey for Michelle Anita Holley began on September 3, 1958, in Dothan, Alabama to the late Jessie Lee and Mosie Rene Holley.

Michelle matriculated through the Dothan School System where she graduated from Dothan High School in 1976. Michelle accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cherry Street A.M.E. Church where she served in many capacities. She later united with First Missionary Baptist Church where she was a humble and diligent servant with the Matrons and in other capacities. Michelle met the love of her life Larry Simmons whom shewed in 1989. They were blessed with two children: Jeryl Anthony Simmons and the late Maya Alecia Simmons.

Michelle was employed with the USDA Farm Service Agency for 34 years where she retired in 2011. She served for two years as a volunteer for the gift shop at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She served many years as the chairperson of the cake decorating committee for the Peanut Festival. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of Angel of Hope. Upon her transitioning, she enjoyed working part time at Hardwicks Flooring. Michelle enjoyed her retirement to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling, bowling with her bowling Divas, the Star scope Bowling League, line dancing, indoor gardening, calligraphy and so many more hobbies. She enjoyed
cooking and entertaining, especially her family whom she loved very much.

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, she departed this life at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. The time came for her to be reunited with those family members preceding in death before her: daughter Maya, her parents, and her grandparents. They all welcomed her home.
