Michael Bryant Life and Times

Mr. Michael Bryant, age 55, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020.

Drive Through Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2020 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 11 AM at Piney Grove Church Cemetery.

Deacon Michael Bryant was born on December 25, 1964 in Headland, Alabama to the late Irene Lewis Bryant and James King.

Michael was the fourth child of seven children.  He was a graduate of the Headland High School.  He enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball.  He was a member of the Gems of Joy choir.  As a youth, he was a member of the Mount Sinai Baptist Church, where he worshiped and was a member of the young adult choir for a few years, under the leadership of Rev. Eddie W. Thomas; whom he faithfully admired.  He later joined the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Alphonso Neal, who inspired him in his daily walk with the Lord.  Michael was a dedicated Deacon and a trustworthy man of God.  He was a Church Recording Secretary, a Sunday School Teacher, Secretary of the Brotherhood, Youth Advisor, Director of the Senior Choir, Director of the Male Chorus and Director of the Youth Choir.  He was, also, a long time coach for the Dothan City League basketball, football, and baseball teams.  A true, dedicated servant of God, he was.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Annie Maude and Archie Lewis of Newville, Alabama; a sister: Mrs. Janet Bryant Thornton of Headland, Alabama; and wife: Mrs. Floretha Farmer Bryant of Dothan, Alabama.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories,a loving companion: Melinda Ruttler of Dothan, Alabama; one stepdaughter: Rachel Farmer; two stepsons: Cornelious Farmer and Tra'Jazman Farmer; two step grandchildren: Jazmine Farmer and Tra'Jazman, Jr; five Goddaughters; Godson: Cornelius Fields; several Godgrandchildren; three sisters: Cynthia (Russell) Davis of Newville, Alabama, Annie (Jaime) Henrriquez of Roswell, Georgia, and Jamie (Bobby) Benton of Newville, Alabama; two brothers: Mr. Dexter (Jackie) Bryant of Newville, Alabama and Mr. Clint (Trina) Bryant; one uncle: Terry (Debra) Lewis of Headland, Alabama; three extended sisters: Mavis King Simpson of Headland, Alabama, Bernie Lee Dunlap of Dothan, Alabama and Annie (J.D. Carrol) Knight of Headland, Alabama; seven extended brothers: Edward Earl (Jerleen) King of Headland, Alabama, Ezekiel King of New Jersey, Gary Charles King of Headland, Alabama, Tyrone (Johnnie Mae) King, Bryon (Sheryl) King, Bernard King, and James King, Jr. of Dothan, Alabama; two aunts: Marvette Rivers of Headland, Alabama and Bobbie Neil Hollis of Dothan, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and cousins.  Special friends, he truly loved being with: Linnie Baker, Jr. (Red), cousin: Leon Murry, Jr., Bro. Russell Walker of Newville, Alabama.
