Melissa Williams Life and Times

Mother Melissa Clark Williams was born on December 23, 1953, to the late Levourgia Clark and Jennie Mae Clark in Washington, GA.  She was the third child born to this union.

She attended Warren County Schools and graduated from Warren County High School in 1972, and continued her education at Fort Valley State University where she received her B.A. degree in Home Economics in 1976.

On July 7, 1979, she married the love of her life Deacon Dwight David Williams in Warrenton, GA.  They relocated to Dothan, AL where she resided until she was called to her heavenly rest.

Shortly after moving to Dothan, AL, Dwight and Melissa joined Church of God in Christ #1 (504 Houston Street) where she faithfully served in many capacities to include Sunday School Teacher, YPWW President, Choir Member, Mother’s Board President, YWCC President, Kitchen Chairperson, and Assistant Bible Band Teacher.  She also served as District YWCC President and was later elevated to the office of State YWCC President and State CWC President.

Melissa C. Williams was a loving wife and sweet mother.  She loved to sew, complete crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and was most known for her passion for cooking.  Many from the Local, District, and State can testify of the goodness of her savory and sweet recipes. Most notably her glazed pound cake, red velvet cake, and peach delight.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Levorn Clark (brother), and Christine Clark (sister).

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Dwight D. Williams; Four children Roscell (Teresa) Cummings of Harvest, AL, Dawnyetta (Eric) Hixon of Martinez, GA, Onnie (Craig) Poe of Hephzibah, GA, and Marcus (Andrea) Williams of Athens, AL.
