Mealie Ann (Kirkland) West

Mrs. Mealie West, age 77, of Newville, Alabama passed away Monday, October 25, 2021.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1 PM at Georgette L. Scott Memorial Chapel, 814 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Center Baptist Church Cemetery in Newville, Alabama.

Mrs. Mealie Ann West was born and raised in Newville, Alabama.  She was the sixth child of Deck and Alice Kirkland; who preceded her in death.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Center Baptist Church.  Mealie graduated from Newville Rosenwald School.  She worked at West Point Pepperell and was later employed with Sony Magnetic Corp. for 20 years until retirement.  After retirement, she attended and graduated from George C. Wallace Community College, School of Cosmetology.

Mealie married the love of her life, James West, Jr., on July 7, 1962.  She was a devoted wife for 59 years.

Mrs. Mealie West transitioned home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 25, 2021.  She was 77 years old.

Mealie is survived by her loving husband: James West, Jr.; two loving daughters: Sandra West Kelly of Abbeville, Alabama and Cheryl (Byron) King of Prattville, Alabama; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister: Betty (George) Hamilton; sister-in-law: Mary Jim Davis Kirkland; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
