Mattie Duncan Life and Times

Mattie Lee Duncan, a beacon of generosity and faith, completed her earthly journey on August 6, 2024, in Ozark, Alabama. Born on March 4, 1944, in the warm southern embrace of South Carolina, Mattie embraced the world with her unwavering spirit and love for life. Her 80 years on this planet were marked by the joy she found in the simplest of pleasures and the deep impact she made on those around her.

Mattie, known affectionately by friends and family for her vivacious personality and kind heart, carried the light of her faith as a guiding star. She was a cherished member of Christ Community Church of Enterprise, Alabama, where she lived her beliefs through acts of service and unyielding compassion. Her involvement in the church was not just as a member but as a pillar of strength and support to the congregation.

Her love for yard work and flowers was more than a hobby; it was a testament to her appreciation for the beauty and tranquility of nature. Mattie's garden was a vibrant tapestry of life that reflected the care and attention she poured into every blossom. It was in the midst of her beloved blooms that she found peace and solace.

Animals held a special place in Mattie's generous heart. She saw the beauty in all creatures great and small, recognizing them as kindred spirits that enriched her life. Her love for animals was infectious, and she had a unique ability to connect with them on a profound level.

A woman with an insatiable love for life's culinary delights, Mattie savored every meal as if it were a celebration. Her enthusiasm for good food was contagious, and she was always eager to share this passion with others, making every dining experience a memorable one.

Mattie's legacy is carried on by her beloved family members, who were the recipients of her boundless love and generosity. She is survived by her sister-in-law Cora Rivera, brother-in-law Oscar Duncan, and her doting nieces and nephews Phyllis Leverette, Walter Thompson, Moses Thompson, Andrew Thompson, and Shannon Thompson. Each of them was touched by Mattie's grace and will continue to walk in the light of her example.

Her church family, along with other relatives and friends, also feel the profound loss of Mattie's departure. Yet, they find comfort in knowing that her spirit remains a guiding force in their lives, encouraging them to live with purpose and to cherish every moment.
