Mrs. Mary Emma Moore departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the age of 85.
"MaryEmma", many people called her, was born April 27, 1937 in Dothan, Houston County, Alabama to the late Alice Clyde Powe. Her middle name was passed on from her great-grandmother, Emma Coleman Hurt.
At an early age she accepted Christ and joined Greenvalley Missionary Baptist Church (now Burdeshaw Street Missionary Baptist Church) in Dothan, AL. During several years of service at Burdeshaw Street, she became a nurse's aide, a deaconess and sang in the choir. She loved her church and she loved serving there; she was there every Sunday she could be there. She attended many occasions and events at her church when she was able. When she wasn't able, she would even watch church on Facebook.
MaryEmma worked many years at General Hospital (now Southeast Health) and Sony. She also was a caregiver to the elderly and worked with SARCOA for several years. MaryEmma wanted to take care of everyone she could. She was one of very few who truly gave unconditional love.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Deacon WC Moore on September 17, 1955. They were married 63 years at the time of Deacon Moore's passing on December 30, 2018.
Mrs. Mary Emma Powe Moore, of Dothan, AL, entered eternal rest on March 26, 2023. She was 85 years old.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Charlie T. Powe, Roland Williams, Robert L. Powe and David Mathis; and one sister: Gelaine M. Powe-Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted daughter she raised as her own: Shanetha Rena Beachum; two grandsons: Jaron R. Crawford and Shaheed K. Roberts; four great-grandchildren: Raylen, Aaliyah, Shymir and Ellianna (and one to be born in November); two brothers: Lee E. (Rose) Powe and Willie D. (Willie Mae) Powe; two sister-in-laws: Ruth Powe and Virginia Powe and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
