Mary was born on April 17, 1931 to the late Richard and Ethel Peterman Sipp in Abbeville, Alabama.
She was united in holy matrimony to Richard Durr. In this union one son was born. Later in life, she married Reverend David Bivins of Ozark, Alabama, where they served in various churches.
Mary, affectionately known as Madea, Granny, and Mae Lucy, was a woman of great faith who loved the Lord and her family dearly. She never met a stranger. She was one to tell it like it is and did not hold back. Mary lived her life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law: Mamie Durr.
Her memories will be cherished by a loving, devoted son: Robert Durr, and a loving, caring sister: Mary Malone. A host of loving grandchildren: Rosalind (Antoine) McGill, Pastor Angela (Terrance) White, Terrance (Jalaine) Durr, Richard Durr, Derek (Katriceia) Durr, Belinda Johnson, Candy (Larry) Terry and Octavia (Eugene) Day; seventeen great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A caring sister-in-law: Doris Bivins.
