Mary Danzey Life and Times

Mary Alene Danzey was born to Millard and Ossie Danzey on April 29, 1948. Mary's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the enduring spirit of community.

A proud graduate of Newville Rosenwald High School, Mary's pursuit of knowledge led her to George C. Wallace Community College, where she furthered her education. Her dedication to learning was a cornerstone of her character, a trait she carried with her throughout her life.

Mary's professional life was marked by her unwavering commitment to the Dothan City School District, where she worked until her retirement. Her colleagues and students alike were touched by her compassion and unwavering dedication to education and growth.

A woman of deep faith, Mary found solace and joy in her membership at Glory To Him Church in Ozark, Alabama. Her church family knew her as a woman whose love knew no bounds, and she was a source of light and inspiration within the congregation.

Mary's journey began in the warm embrace of a large and loving family. She was a cherished sister to many, and although preceded in death by her parents: Millard and Ossie Danzey; and her siblings: Herman Danzey, Columbus Earl Danzey, Robbie Lee Johnson, Harry K. Danzey, Ivy “June” Danzey, Jeremiah Danzey, Sally Mae Danzey, Ruby Lee Tharpe, and Frank Danzey.

Mary's legacy lives on through her beloved son - Lee Danzey; her treasured grandson, Xavier Danzey; and her dear sister, Martha Maelene Danzey Johnson. Her sisters-in-love: Annie and Nancy Danzey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, will continue to cherish the memories they forged with Mary. Her kind spirit and sweet disposition made her a pillar in the lives of those she touched.
