Mary Alice Bradley, a beacon of unwavering faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and family devotion. Born on October 25, 1938, in Newville, Alabama, Mary's journey was one of purpose and joy, rooted in the values she embraced from her early acceptance of Christ at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
Mary's education at Newville Rosenwald School laid the foundation for a life of hard work and service. Her career spanned years of dedication at Farley Nuclear Plant and West Point Stevens (Pepperell), where she retired, leaving behind a trail of respect and admiration from her colleagues.
In the words of Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Mary embraced this philosophy wholeheartedly, treating each day as an opportunity to learn, to love, and to contribute to the world around her. Her involvement in her community and her church was not merely an obligation but a calling she answered with enthusiasm and grace.
Mary's life was a symphony of moments that inspired those around her to strive for their best selves. She approached challenges with courage and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her laughter was infectious, her wisdom profound, and her ability to uplift others was a gift she generously shared. She exemplified the belief that with faith, all things are possible, and that love is the most potent force we can offer the world.
Mary's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. She was a cherished daughter to her late parents: Vela Mae and C.L. Patterson, and grew to become a loving and devoted wife to her late husband: Jack Bradley. Together, they nurtured a family that would be Mary's pride and joy. Despite the heartache of losing her beloved son: Wendell Snell, her grandsons: Bennie Graham, Jr., and Lafayette Snell, Jr., as well as her brother: Egray Patterson, Mary's spirit remained unbroken, her heart ever expansive.
As a mother, Mary's love was a guiding light. She is survived by her daughters: Lesia (Lloyd) Beacham, Barbara Ann (Bennie) Graham, and Jennifer (Vince) Fleeton; her sons: Felix Snell (Chris Copeland) and Lafayette Snell, Sr. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren - all of whom she adored. Mary's family extended beyond bloodlines, including her five stepsisters and five stepbrothers from West Palm Beach, Florida, and her special friend: Angela Pride, alongside countless relatives and friends.
As we celebrate Mary Alice Bradley's remarkable life, we are reminded of her unwavering optimism and the impact she made on every soul she touched. Her journey on earth may have concluded, but her spirit soars high, guiding us with the light of her enduring love. Mary's story is not one of finality but of continuity, as her values, her love, and her indomitable spirit live on through each life she has touched.
