Marion Durr was born in Abbeville, Alabama to Nain and Lola Durr on June 28, 1921. 

He graduated from Henry County Training School in Abbeville, Alabama. After graduating from high school he married Vallie W. Durr. To this Union one son was born, Dr. Frederick Durr. He enlisted into the United States Army During World War II where he served in Germany and France and was also a member of the “Red Ball Express.”
     
He completed his service duty and he and his family moved to Newark, NJ. While in New Jersey he worked at the Monsanto Chemical Plant. He retired from Monsanto and moved back to Abbeville where he worked as Foreman at Cutler Egg Plant for several years. Marion loved gardening and sharing the vegetables with family and friends.

He was a life time member of St. John A.M.E. Church where he served on the Steward Board for several years. When his health began to fail he was admitted into The Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Abbeville where he spent his final days. 

Marion was preceded in death by his wife Vallie W. Durr ; his parents; one son: Dr. Fredrick Durr; four brothers: Richard Durr, John Durr, Dan Durr and Robbie C. Durr; three sisters: Annie Rutherford, Maudrie Helms and Lottie Smith.

He went to be with The Lord on his birthday, June 28, 2019 with his family and friends by his side. 

He is survived by a granddaughter: Kiera Durr Newsome (Mark)of Marlboro, NJ; nieces:  Mamie Vaughn (Herbert) of Abbeville, Mabel Carter, Rebecca Fleming (Nathaniel), Barbara Hardman, Gloria Baldwin of Dothan, AL, Catherine Flemings of Orlando, FL, Ester Hankerson (William) Upper of Marlboro, MD, Jeannette Mills (Arnold) of Cumberland, MD, Phyllis Roberson and Loretta Turner; three nephews: Willie J. Durr (Roshell) of Newville, AL, Robby Durr (Diane) of Cleveland, Ohio and Dwyane West of Jacksonville, FL; three devoted friends: Sherman Peterman, Jackie Cupe and Willie Green; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
