Ms. Maleka Monique Holmes transitioned to her eternal resting place on November 30, 2024, in Clarksville, TN. She was born in Dothan, AL on May 31, 1981.
Maleka's academic journey was marked by significant achievements. In 2005, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Western Kentucky University, a testament to her dedication. She furthered her education by obtaining a Master of Science in Human Development and Leadership from Murray State University in 2011, showcasing her unwavering commitment to learning.
Maleka's professional journey in social work began in 2005 with Clarksville Montgomery County Head Start. She then embarked on a career with the State of Tennessee Department of Child Services in 2006, where she dedicated 18 years. Maleka's commitment and hard work were recognized as she rapidly rose to the position of Case Manager 4/Team Leader. Maleka's leadership skills were further honed once she became a member of the Tennessee Commissioner's Leadership Academy and the Department of Human Resources Blackbelt.
Maleka's heart was a wellspring of love for her family and friends, a love that she cherished and nurtured. Her joy was found in their company as shared her passion for traveling, fashion, and criminal justice. Her unwavering faith was a source of strength and comfort; she was a beloved member of Mt. Zion Baptist in Nashville, TN, and a frequent visitor of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Elkton, KY.
Maleka was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Willam and Sarah Holmes, Homer C., and Queenie E. Turner.
In God's care, Maleka leaves her loving and devoted parents: William and Phyllis Holmes; brother: Detarian Holmes; sister: Corall Holmes; aunt: Katherine Turner; God Parents: Gawain and Nancy Grimes Sr., as well as a host of family and friends who will cherish her memories for years.
