Maeola Pullin Life and Times

Ms. Maeola Pullin of Dothan, Alabama departed this earthly life on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Maeola Pullin was born on January 29, 1931, to the late Joshua and Lucille Martin in Dothan, Alabama. Maeola  lived a life marked by faith, family, service, and quiet strength.

Maeola attended Smithville School in the early 1940s. She later married Norman Pullin, Sr., and together they began building their family. Prior to relocating to New Jersey, Maeola and Norman welcomed two children, Carolyn and Roosevelt. The family later moved to Newark, New Jersey, where Maeola continued raising her family and establishing deep roots in the community.

After settling in Newark, Maeola and Norman were blessed with three additional children: Norman Jr., John, and Cecelia. She was a devoted mother who poured love, discipline, and encouragement into each of her children.

While living in New Jersey, Maeola worked at a candy factory before dedicating more than 20 years of faithful service at General Hose Productions in West Caldwell, New Jersey. She was known as a dependable and hardworking employee who took pride in providing for her family.

Maeola accepted Christ at an early age and was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She initially attended Israel Memorial A.M.E. Church in Newark before becoming a longtime and committed member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, also in Newark, New Jersey.

Following the passing of her husband, Norman Pullin, Sr., Maeola returned to Dothan, Alabama, in 1988. There, she selflessly became a caregiver to her aging parents and her brother, exemplifying sacrificial love and devotion to family.

Upon her return home, Maeola united with Smithville Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and active member for many years. She served joyfully as a choir member, was an active participant in the Ladies Aid Society #33, and later was lovingly recognized as a Mother of the Church. She served faithfully until her health no longer allowed.

On Friday, March 6, 2026, Maeola Pullin peacefully transitioned from this life, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Maeola was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua and Lucille Martin of Dothan, Alabama; her brother, Willie C. “Pete” Martin of Dothan, Alabama; her beloved husband, Norman Pullin, Sr., of Newark, New Jersey; and her daughter, Carolyn Ann Brockett, of East Orange, New Jersey.
