Lucy Mae Lagree

Mrs. Lucy Lagree, age 88, of Dothan, Alabama passed away Friday, November 1, 2019.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 10,2019 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be Monday, November 11, 2019 at 11 AM at North Highland Baptist Church.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Lucy Mae Hilsman LaGree was born March 3, 1931 in Dothan to Charlie and Leola (Bell) Benton .

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of North Highland Baptist Church until her failing health.  She worked for the Houston County Adult Daycare Center utilizing her depth of compassion for helping the community.  She loved to travel and took many trips in her lifetime to see the world.

Mrs. Lucy would always tell anybody "I ain't got nothing but some children" but would share what little she had.   She was a member of Women's Missionary Society and Daughter's Elks.

Mrs. Lucy was always the same.  From the alley to "Raggedy Sue" her nickname for her house.  She had quiet grace and style and would wear a Sunday hat like a crown.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Charlie and Leola; her husbands: Jesse W. Hilsman and Domingua D. LaGree; her sister: Bilie Mae Ingram; her niece: Laretha Ingram Maxwell and her son: Dwight Hilsman.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, six children: Jessie (Deborah) Hilsman of Seattle, Washington, Sylbrevia Duckett of Dothan, Alabama, Alfred (Janice) Hilsman of Orlando, Florida, Carla Hilsman (Victor Trimmer) of Atlanta, Georgia, Michelle Hilsman of Dothan, Alabama and Oshawn (Annette) LaGree of London, UK; thirteen grandchildren: Sabrina, Akil, Jazz, Shani, Jamal, Christopher, Alexander, Sidra, Dominique, Tenisha, Katrina, Aesha and Kristen; twelve great grands and five great great grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
