Louise Cobb Life and Times

Mrs. Johnnie Louise (Thomas) Cobb ascended into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 13, 2023, with her loving children by her side.

Louise (Ma) as she was affectionately called was born November 20, 1941, in Columbia, Alabama to the late Charlie and Coddie Lee (Weems) Thomas.

Louise accepted Christ as her personal savior at a tender age and joined the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Columbia, Al.

After graduating from Columbia high school Louise met and married Mr. Joe Curry.   In 1965 upon receiving a vision Louise relocated to Utica, NY where she later met and wed the late Deacon Isiah E. Conway with whom she shared 25 years of marriage.  She attended the St James AME Church and later became a member of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.

Louise was employed by GE Corp until she joined NYNEX/ Verizon where she would retire as staff supervisor after 27 years.

In 1996 Louise married Mr. Frank Cobb with whom she has shared 27 fulfilling years of marriage.   Ma and Mr. T spent many years traveling and would relocate back to Columbia, Alabama to care for her mother.

Ma loved to travel, and she did it with vigor which would ultimately land her on the beautiful island of Hawaii.   She loved visiting family and friends with whom she had many.   Ma was an exceptional cook and folk came from miles around for her collard greens, fried chicken, chocolate cakes and sweet potato pies.  Ma loved the holidays and Christmas was her favorite.  She would go all out to make the holidays special for her family.

Ma had the voice of an angel and when she sang souls were uplifted.  Her most requested song was “Amazing Grace” and when she sang it there was not a dry eye in the room.
Ma had a profound love for her children and grandchildren.  Her home was always filled with joy and laughter.    She would often say “God is Love”.  Ma lived the life that she sang about and to be in her presence for even a short time you knew you were loved.  Her smile could light up any room and even though our hearts are broken we know our “Ma” will be well received.

Louise leaves to mourn her loving husband Mr. Frank Cobb, her beloved children Mrs. Debra A (Norman) Curry Perez and Mrs. Sherondia M. Curry Morgan of Charlotte NC.  Sons Mr. Gregory J. Curry and Mr. Donald J Curry of Dothan Al. (who watched over her like hawks), Mr. Ricky Curry and Mr. Randall Conway of Charlotte NC and Mr. Brian (Lisha) Conway of Utica, NY, One brother: Mr. John Henry (Louise) Thomas of Ashford, Al, 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews’ cousins and friends.   Louise leaves 2 special friends, Mrs. Dosher Grant and Mrs. Mary Wells of Utica New York and two special Sisters-in-Law: Mrs. Louise Thomas of Ashford, Alabama and Ms. Donna Thomas of Stone Mountain, Ga.
She was predeceased by her sister Mrs. Bertha Mae Hutchins, her brothers Mr. James Walker, Mr. Billy Thomas, Mr. Mapus Leander Thomas, and Mr. Calvin E Thomas.  3 grandchildren Mia Curry, Brittany Holliman, and Quinton Curry.
