Loretta Anita Williams, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on June 25, 1958, in Bayminette, Alabama, Loretta's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her dedication to her community.
The beloved daughter of Emanuel Johnson and Rosetta Crawford, Loretta grew up in a home filled with warmth and guidance. She graduated from Baldwin County High School in 1976, where she laid the foundations for her future achievements. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Freeport, Long Island, NY, where she earned an associate degree in secretarial studies, a skill set that would serve her well throughout her career.
Loretta's professional journey brought her back to Alabama, where she became a cherished figure at the Dothan Community Center. Her passion for education and mentorship shone brightly as she later joined the staff at Dothan High School. For 28 years, she worked diligently, touching the lives of countless students and colleagues with her mentorship and kindness. Her commitment to her faith was equally profound. As a faithful member of the Dothan Community Church, Loretta dedicated herself to the youth, guiding them with patience and love. Her influence extended beyond the walls of the church, as she became a spiritual mentor to many.
Loretta's legacy is carried on by her devoted son, Dan E. Williams, who was the center of her world. She is also survived by her loving mother, Rosetta Crawford of Dothan, Alabama, and her father, Emanuel (Virginia) Johnson of Freeport, Long Island, NY. Her life was enriched by her siblings, Tiece (Johnny) West, Sylvester (Gwendolyn) Johnson of Mobile, Alabama, and Sam Johnson of Freeport, Long Island, NY. Her family circle included her stepmother, John Crawford, her stepsisters, Mirriam and Equilla Crawford, and her uncle, Ferry Leon Nye.
Loretta was also a cherished niece to her aunts, Mary Beamond of Bay Mirette, Alabama, and Ethel Baker of Newark, Delaware. Her three devoted nieces, Genesis, Tohnea of Dothan, Alabama, and Shaunta' Jones of Willington, Delaware, will forever hold her in their hearts. Her role as a godmother to Destiny, Breanna, Quintis, Kezuiann, and Johathan was one she embraced with joy and pride.
Loretta's impact on her family was immeasurable, and her love extended to her nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends who felt her warmth and generosity. She was a woman of great faith and love, and these qualities were the cornerstones of her life.
