Mr. Lonnie B. Wright, affectionately known as Clyde to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on October 6, 1947, in the warm and welcoming community of Headland, Alabama, Clyde's journey through life was marked by his friendly nature, generous spirit, and gentle heart.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr., and Alberta Wright, his son Laurice B. Wright, and his brothers Auther Willis Wright, Marvin Wright, and Auther "Bo" Wright. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Wright, who cared for him with unmatched dedication and tenderness.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his daughter, LaKebra (Darrell) Reed of New Jersey; Kareem Abdul Jabbar Jones of Montgomery, Alabama, Londell Jones of Atlanta, Georgia; and stepdaughters Stephanie Reeve-Brooks of Tampa, Florida, Michelle Richardson of New Jersey, Hassan Richardson of Maryland, Debra Reeves, and John Reeves and Billy Turner. His brotherly bond will be fondly remembered by his surviving brothers Johnny (Delores) Wright of New Jersey and Jimmy (Belinda) Wright of Tennessee, as well as his sister Roberta Wright. Clyde's memory will also be honored by his sister-in-law Brenda Wright, Brenda (Dan) Reynolds, Verna Jean Flowers, Evelyn Kennard of Albany, Georgia, and Myra Jo McKenzie. His life's story will continue to be told through his cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who were blessed to know him. Among his grandchildren, two held a special place in Clyde's heart—Brittany and Chyne. Their grandfather-grandchild bond was a source of immense joy and pride for Clyde, and their memories together will be treasured forever. Clyde was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words carried weight and warmth. He often shared a saying with his son that encapsulated his outlook on life: "I have lived a good one." This simple yet profound statement reflected his contentment and gratitude for the life he led and the relationships he fostered. Those who knew Clyde will remember him as a man who approached life with a gentle demeanor and a heart that was always open to giving. His friendly smile was a source of comfort, and his generous nature made him a pillar in his community. Clyde was the kind of person who would offer help without hesitation and whose presence could light up a room. As we bid farewell to Mr. Lonnie B. Wright, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, kindness, and a gentle spirit that will continue to inspire those who knew him. Clyde's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. Though he may have left this world, his legacy of warmth and generosity will never be forgotten.
