Mrs. Leola Cooper Cobb was the second child born to the late Mr. Jessie W. Cooper Sr., and Viola Roe Cooper in Bullock County Alabama, on February 23, 1930.
At an early age she confessed Christ and joined Penile A.M.E. Church, in the Penile Community and later married Robert Lee Cobb Sr. She later joined the Mt. Silla Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Lee Cobb, Sr.; two sons: Robert Lee Cobb, Jr. and Jerome Cobb; two daughters: Constance Delois Faniel, and Marcia Faye Cobb, five brothers: Neil Cooper, Jessie W. Cooper Jr., James Ralph Cooper, Roosevelt Cooper, and Johnny Edward Cooper Jr., two sisters: Ceola Cooper Jones and Lode Cooper Battle Surles.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories two daughters: Ramona Cobb Robinson and Alfreda Cobb Scott Meeks, both of Union Springs, AL; two grandchildren that she reared as her own: Adrienne Cobb Crawford, of Dothan AL, Lakesha Cobb of Troy, AL; two great grandchildren: Samuel Earl Crawford of Columbiana, AL and De’Andre Pitts of Birmingham, AL; a devoted niece whom she reared as a daughter April Felicia Surles Scott (Kenneth) of Minneapolis, MN.
She is also survived by four sisters: Bertha Cooper Alexander of Union Springs, AL, Fannie Cooper Moses Smith of Birmingham, AL, Eula Pruitt of Hurtsboro, AL, and Dorothy Cooper Harvey of Miami, FL; one brother: Curtis Julius (Mary Ann) Cooper of Union Springs, AL. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Stanley (LaKesha) Davis Sr., of Columbus S.C., James A. (Zeisha) Scott of Union Springs, AL, Jamelia Scott Smart of Guntersville, AL, Jeremy Jerome Cobb, Courtney Cobb and Justin (Brittany) Cobb, both of Troy, AL. Nathan Pitts of Ft. Davis, AL, La’Sadria Robinson of Montgomery, AL, and Kendarius Robinson, Sr. of Union Springs, AL. She is further blessed with a host of great grandchildren: Quinesha, Derrius, Stantavious, Stanley Jr, Kimberanna, Justin, James, Zayla, Kaliyah, Jade, Zacarriah, Royce, Kynnady, Kentavious, Kendarius, Jr., Prince, Winter, Don, Melody, Zykendria, Caleb, Kaleigh, Camille, Camryn and Lashonta.
She also leaves behind numerous devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Mrs. Leola Cooper Cobb will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love of family, her lifelong commitment to service in her church and community, and her work with the State of Alabama Department of Human Resource, the City of Union Springs and Bullock County Commission.
