Josephine Butler

Mrs. Josephine Butler, age 99 of Dothan,AL passed away on September 15, 2019.  Funeral service will be Friday, September 20, 2019 at 10 AM at Union Hill Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Alabama.  Burial will immediately follow the service at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

On the morning of September 15, 2019 at 8:15 AM, Mrs. Josephine Butler took her last breath and departed her earthly body and met face to face with her Savior and heard "Well done thy good and faithful servant".

Mrs. Josephine R. Butler was born February 20, 1920 to the late Alto and Victoria Rechourse in Houston County.  She was a faithful member and mother of the church at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Alabama.  She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and was an example of Jesus to all that she came in contact with.

She met and joined in Holy Matrimony, Robert L. Butler and to this union 7 children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert L. Butler; sons: John Junior Butler and Roy L. Butler; sister: Nell Lou Craddock; brothers: Willie Fred Rechourse, Eddie Rechourse and E.G. Rechourse all of Cottonwood, Alabama.

She leaves to cherish a memory of her life, five sons: Norman (Doris), Eddie (Kim), Larry (Betty), Steve (Lenora/Dede) Butler all of Dothan, Alabama; one daughter: Edith (Lawrence) Whitehurst of Enterprise, Alabama; one sister: Bernice Bell of Miami, Florida; one sister-in-law: Josephine Butler of Lockport, New York; Bonus daughter: Shirley Powe of Webb, Alabama; 20 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, one great great grandchild and a special ride or die friend: David Lee Jackson.
